Lunch Cruise

Enjoy a scrumptious lunch aboard our elegant, 50 ft mono hull yacht, while admiring the picturesque surroundings of the Knysna estuary and the unique, rugged Garden Route Coastline.
This 2.5hour sailing experience is the perfect way to capture the beauty of Knysna. Let our sails carry you through the Knysna estuary and towards the iconic Knysna Heads. Observe the archaic caves, coves and rock formations that skirt the passage way through the Knysna heads, out into the big blue.

Let our crew entertain you with their sailing skills as they traverse the salty swells of the Indian ocean, while you unwind. Enjoy the scenery and the abundance of marine and bird life, the one of a kind coastline and the boundless Indian ocean, where we sail and let the wind guide us. Once back on the placid waters of the estuary, the crew will lay out a feast of appetizing savoury snacks, cheeses and seasonal fruits. Order a round of drinks and cheers to an amazing sailing experience, before heading back to our mooring.

All our trips are ocean going trips and are weather and sea conditions dependent. The skipper in charge of the vessel will make a judgement call on these conditions and this can only be determined at the time of departure. Conditions are influenced by tide, wind direction, wind speed and the swell at sea, therefore going out through the Knysna Heads, and out to sea, is never guaranteed.

We really enjoyed our time with Springtide Charters tremendously. Everything was top-notch and the crew very friendly and helpful

Sea sickness
It is better to be safe than sorry. If this is your first time out on the ocean, you may want to consider motion sickness medications. These can usually be found at most pharmacies. Prescription medications are also available through your doctor. Most medications must be taken a few hours prior to the trip so be sure to check the label. Once your trip begins, it is too late to take anything. Refer below for some helpful hints if you are feeling queasy.

A few helpful hints if you start to feel queasy
Remember sea sickness can sometimes be stopped if caught in time. Sometimes this is all that it takes. Nibble on crackers and sip on ginger ale. It can really help to have something in your stomach. Look at the horizon. Looking at something that is not moving helps the equilibrium.

A good breakfast is key!
Very often people will go on their first trip fearing they may get sick and will skip breakfast or lunch assuming that no food in their stomach means they won’t get sick. In fact, the opposite is true. An empty stomach produces acids and can actually make you sick. Eat a good carbohydrate breakfast and rather avoid fatty or fried foods.

Keep hydrated
Don’t get dehydrated! When on the ocean it is recommended that you keep hydrated by drinking water or ginger ale but avoid drinks that are high in sugars. We have a full service cash bar available for you.

Keep Warm!
It is always colder on the ocean than on land. Dress in layers and bring extra clothes. Sometimes on choppy days people can get wet and chilled. We will supply you with lovely warm blankets for those extra chilly days.

Don’t forget the sunblock and sunglasses!
Water reflects and magnifies the sun rays. Without protection you can get severely sunburned during your trip. Be sure to bring your sunglasses to protect your eyes from glare on the water.

Camera or Camcorder
Make sure your batteries are fully charged or you have a spare set to ensure you don’t miss the “money shot”. And don’t forget your memory card.

Cozy socks!
We have a strict no shoes policy on-board and guests are advised to bring socks during the colder season.

Warm clothes
Ideally you should wear a nice warm jacket or hoodie as it can get really chilly out on the ocean. We will supply you with a blanket if the day is colder than normal.

Sunscreen and Sunglasses
On sunny days you can get quite sunburned so please remember your sun protection and sunglasses to help protect your eyes from glare off the water.
